SHAKE SHOPPE ARCADE TO HELP “RESTORE THE SHORE” BY BRINGING FUN & GAMES TO HURRICANE SANDY-RAVAGED SEASIDE HEIGHTS

Shake Shoppe Arcade in Seaside Heights, NJ
Brand New Arcade Features 6,000 Sq Ft Space; New Concept in Family Entertainment; Seaside Heights Business Partners with World-Renowned Arcade Company to Rebuild Business After Hurricane Sandy; 80-Plus Jersey-Themed Arcade Games; Guests Attending Grand Opening Receive Free Play in Arcade; First 200 Get One Free Scoop of Ice Cream

It has been just seven months since Hurricane Sandy devastated the New Jersey community of Seaside Heights – also known as the “Jersey Shore.” But as they say, the party must go on…and it will just in time for the popular start of summer Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The Shake Shoppe Arcade at Seaside Heights will celebrate its grand opening with an “arcade ticket” cutting ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 2:30pm. The event will also include free play in the PrimeTime Amusements arcade and a complimentary scoop of Hershey’s® Ice Cream to the first 200 guests in line.

Local Seaside Heights business and land owner Patti Hershey, family-owned and operated Hershey’s® Ice Cream, and South Florida-based PrimeTime Amusements joined forces in early 2013 to brainstorm, design, and build a high-end, family-friendly arcade and ice cream shop. The location would replace the small arcade room Patti Hershey owned for more than four decades that was destroyed by the Hurricane. Together, their hope was to combine local connections, traditional “real” ice cream, and the investment and experience of an international gaming company to help revive the Seaside Heights community and Jersey Shore boardwalk.

Thanks to the resilience and hard work of the entire team, the six-thousand square-foot Shake Shoppe Arcade was born right on the famous Seaside Heights boardwalk. The jaw dropping storefront features a 400-square foot Hershey’s® Ice Cream stand inside complete with cones, sundaes, smoothies, baked goods and more; a PrimeTime Amusements game room with 80 New Jersey themed arcade and redemption games; a “Martha’s Sweets” fudge and candy shop; and a hotdog andhamburger joint. (Everything but the hamburger joint will be open for the grand opening celebration.)

The building is owned by Patti Hershey, a long-time resident and three-decade plus business owner in Seaside Heights; the ice cream portion will be serviced by Hershey’s® Ice Cream; and the arcade section of the facility will be operated by PrimeTime Amusements. The exterior façade of the Shake Shoppe Arcade, which features massive ice cream cones and shakes carved out of foam, was designed and built by PrimeTime Amusements’ theming division, Prop Creations. Jody Yedman, who grew up in Seaside Park as did his parents and grandparents, will be general manager of the Shake Shoppe Arcade.

“Seaside is a community of small, independent, often family-owned businesses and we are proud to be one of them,” said Tom Holder, Vice President of Sales for Hershey® Creamery Company. “When approached by PrimeTime Amusements to partner and help bring this food and games concept to life right here on the Jersey Shore, we couldn’t wait to get started. In fact, what would usually take years to design, build and open, only took us three months because of the team’s enthusiasm! We can’t wait to show off the finished product!”

“PrimeTime Amusements has been operating arcade game rooms for years, but never before has our effort had such a profound impact on the local community,” said David Goldfarb, President of PrimeTime Amusements. “As a South Florida-based company, we know how devastating hurricanes can be, and we are just happy to help bring this deserving community back to life by bringing in a little fun and games!”

The Shake Shoppe Arcade is located at 1020 North Ocean Terrace, Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The phone number is 732-793-0600. Hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday, 9:00am to 12:00am; Friday through Saturday, 9:00am to 3:00am.

About Hershey’s® Ice Cream
Hershey® Creamery Company (also known as Hershey’s® Ice Cream) was founded in 1894 by Jacob and his four brothers, Isaac, Paris, Ephraim, and Eli Hershey (no relation to Milton S. Hershey of the Hershey Company). Since 1894, Hershey’s® has strived to “guarantee quality products, provide excellent service, establish competitive prices, and provide a true value to the customer.”

Hershey’s® Ice Cream makes all of its mixes from fresh, wholesome ingredients (most of which are kosher). Fresh cream and fresh condensed milk is delivered to the Hershey’s Ice Cream plant on a daily basis! To ensure the product quality, Hershey’s® Ice Cream uses pure vanilla extract and the highest quality of cocoa available anywhere. Its fruit flavors are made from hand-picked, fresh-frozen fruits. Hershey’s® Ice Cream uses high grades of almonds, pecans, and walnuts; and is still one of the few manufacturers that roast nuts in their own plant and guarantees freshness and quality!
