Gummy Bear Breast Implants Now Available in Connecticut

ALLERGAN'S NEW GUMMY BEAR 410 IMPLANT- Allergan's Natrelle ™ style 410 implant was recently released for usage after passing long standing evaluation by the FDA. The implants were originally designed in 1989 but were held back in the early 1990′s due to concerns about silicone implants. After long evaluation and complete studies by the FDA silicone implants were reapproved for general usage in 2006. The 410 was considered a different implant due to the different cross linkages in the silicone.

After long evaluation and complete studies by the FDA silicone implants were reapproved for general usage in 2006. The 410 was considered a different implant due to the different cross linkages in the silicone.

Dr. Rick Rosen of Connecticut says more connecticut breast augmentation patients are taking advantage of the new cohesive-gel silicone implants known as gummy bears. Patients turn to him because he has been actively involved in the testing of these new implants, which were just recently approved by the FDA, and because he has extensive experience with breast enhancement procedures.

“Gummy bear breast implants are made of a cohesive silicone gel that’s similar in texture to a gummy bear candy,” Dr. Rosen says, “and even though they hold their shape, they are still extremely soft and flexible and have a very natural look and feel.”

The 410 implant is considered to have a significant advantage in breast reconstruction and some augmentation patients. They are firmer due to the cross linkages and therefore standup to the pressures of the overlying tissues better. Therefore with the limited fatty coverage over the implants with a reconstruction for example, less of the implant would show through the skin.

Newer gel implants give much improved results over older implants. With secure data from the FDA and surgical investigators, confidence in silicone implants has been restored and allows much more natural results for patients. The gummy bear implant may not be for all women, due to the firmness and due cost more.
