Auto Safety Preparation Can Save Your Life – Learn How to Prepare

"A safety triangle can save your life." - William Douglas, SOS Rescue Tools

Palm Springs, CA - A three car accident Tuesday afternoon sent 4 individuals, including a newborn infant, to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, Fairfield police stated. Three guests in the 3rd automobile, consisting of the newborn, a 5-year-old and a 46-year-old, needed to be separated and were required to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of injuries. The motorist from the 2nd car was likewise separated and taken to the medical facility.

The crash happened when a vehicle traveling west on Kings Highway Cutoff failed to pick up a red light at New England Avenue and slammed an automobile heading southbound, officers said.

These types of accidents are often the type which cause unnecessary harm and sometimes death due to the vehicle owner’s lack of preparation for events such as this.  These individuals were very lucky that nobody was killed. Below are some simple things you can do to protect you and your passengers in the event that a serious accident occurs:

Auto Safety Tool

Equip your vehicle with an auto safety tool. They are also called window breakers, seatbelt cutters or auto safety hammers. A good one has multi-functionality and can cut seatbelts and/or break windows in seconds or less. If your car is burning or sinking, seconds are all you’ll have. So for around 20 dollars, a tool like this is well worth the investment.

Mylar Blankets

These are also referred to as space blankets, emergency blankets or emergency mylar thermal blankets. All three of these keywords will pull up the same products if your search on Google or Amazon. They are designed to deflect heat or hold in heat when it’s cold. They are great for vehicles because they store easily and believe it or not, hundreds of people freeze in winter related care accidents every year.

Emergency Triangle

Emergency Triangles are great in the event of an accident or breakdown on a busy city street freeway. They alert traffic from great distances and should be place now closer than 35 paces from your vehicle or 100 feet. Be very careful and cautious when place these. A car does not have to be moving very fast to seriously injure or, worse, kill you.

Magnesium Fire Starter

Why would you need a magnesium fire starter? Ask the family who recently survived an accident on a cold night in NV by starting a fire, heating rocks and staying alive. Temperatures were well below zero and the ability to start a fire kept this family alive. For the price, it’s simply worth having.

All these devices should, by the way, be either within reach or stored together in a survival pack that includes a first aid kit.
