The Laminex Group/ASOFIA 2012/2013 Interior Fitout Awards were recently held in Australia and thirteen shopfitters from around the country were heralded for their work in this highly competitive field. Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association (ASOFIA) based the awards on projects completed within Australia over the past 19 months.
CEO of ASOFIA, Gerard Ryan said members observed a distinct shift from the standard shop and office fitout to the more complex and elaborate fitouts in the high-end fashion, leisure, health and fitness industries.
“Every company who walked away with an Interior Fitout Award this year presented judges with a stand out project deserving of recognition,” Ryan said. “The industry has come through tough times stronger. It is refreshing to see members not simply achieving the ‘same old thing’, but rather challenging themselves and the industry by venturing into new directions.”
The Sidgreaves Group won the National Fitout Award for work completed at the Hugo Boss store on King St in Sydney. The Australian Made Awards category was introduced for the first time at this biennial competition. The award was created to encourage the use of Australian materials as well as promote Australian resources, manufacturing and local skills.
For work at Paspaley at the Crown Complex, Stag Shopfitters took home the Retail Australian Made Award and the Commercial Australian Made Award was given to Crosbie Projects for fitting out their own Crosbie Office.
"The 2013 Interior Fitout Awards created a new benchmark in the standard of fitouts that is set to only move higher with each ensuing year,” Ryan noted. “This elevated benchmark has been driven by a number of factors; client expectations; new technologies and the evolution of shopping centres into experiential environments. It is certainly a welcome shift for the profile of our industry.”
