Vir2us, Inc. Launches Project XeroPass to Eliminate Need to Create, Remember or Enter Passwords and Login Information

Crowd funding project expects to deliver new secure identity authentication technology, eliminate passwords and solve secure computing challenges for business and consumers.

San Francisco, California  May 07, 2013, Vir2us today announced the launch of its project, XeroPass on the crowd funding site, Indiegogo.com. For those familiar with crowd funding, projects are posted on the crowd funding website and global consumers and business people can contribute to those projects that they deem most interesting and important to them. Vir2us, a technology firm spawned in Silicon Valley, California, and focused on next generation secure computing solutions, is leveraging one of the top crowd funding sites on the web to launch XeroPass, a software solution based on the company’s patented technologies.

According to the web posting, the XeroPass project will produce a smartphone app that eliminates the need for business and consumers to create, remember, enter or update user names and passwords for online accounts. “XeroPass uses a sophisticated secure authentication methodology that can’t be hacked – simply because there is nothing to hack”, said Anthony More, Vir2us Chief Technology Officer. “Unlike simple password managers that are easily hacked by today’s industrial hackers, XeroPass authentication information is never stored on your computer, or smartphone. We’re hoping to use it to vote for a U.S. President someday soon, but right now we’re focused on eliminating passwords and logins. Our next immediate focus is global credit card and financial transaction approvals. Credit card fraud of all types is costing consumers and banks tens of billions of dollars each year,” said More. The Indiegogo.com site posting shows the working prototype of the product and offers supporters various rewards, including the opportunity to be the first to receive the product. The project is scheduled to deliver XeroPass to project supporters in August of this year.

Top online search firms, social networking sites and retailers have reported having password files hacked in recent months, compromising user’s personal information and in some cases exposing credit card data. Government experts have said that solutions like XeroPass are part of a high-growth market for next-generation cyber security, and that XeroPass has the potential to end the game with hackers.
