Is Crowdfunding a Home Down Payment a Good Idea?

HomeFunded.com - The Gift of Homeownership!
The innovation of Crowdfunding has helped people raise money for everything from business startups to inventions to movies but never before in the form of down payment funds to be used to purchase a home until the introduction of HomeFunded.com, which looks to provide an opportunity to potential home buyers to bridge the gap between renting and homeownership.

On Monday, July 17th, the first down payment crowdfunding startup, HomeFunded.com, will launch allowing prospective home buyers to sign up and raise funds to be used as a down payment to buy a home through the concept of crowdfunding, where incremental monetary contributions are donated by a great number of individuals to raise a larger sum, via their social network like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.

The concept developed by Orlando Realtor, Aaron Mighty, will tackle the controversy on whether or not this innovation of crowdfunding a down payment even belongs in the real estate realm. Critics have slammed the idea as promoting the same financial irresponsibility that crushed the housing market back in 2006, stating that home buyers who need to raise a down payment in this manner cannot afford to buy a home?

Contrary to that belief is the founder of HomeFunded.com, Aaron Mighty, who believes that “when there is an opportunity to bring the American dream of homeownership to more people who qualify and can afford it why should we put up more roadblocks than build roads towards homeownership.“ Mighty himself is a Real Estate Broker and advocate of affordable housing.

HomeFunded.com will require all potential home buyers to attend an educational webinar that will guide them through the home buying process, provide them information on how to handle the responsibilities of being a homeowner and also assist them on running a successful down payment campaign.

So will the concept of crowdfunding a down payment work? Should home buyers even be able to legally do this? All questions that will likely be debated in the coming weeks!
