"Con-nect!" an Indiegogo Dance project

NY based Turkish Choreographer Korhan Basaran after premiering a new work called "Heva" in Istanbul, Turkey by the end of May '13, is now back in NY. The internationally renown choreographer is holding a new campaign before he starts a new season and building some Con-nections between lands, which as a start is between Istanbul and NY..  He also started an online campaign through indiegogo with the name "Con-nect!" which he defines as ART as a bridge between the lands and cultures..    The first step for the "Con-nect" is going to be in the Between the Seas Festival. Basaran is choreographing for two young companies based in NY; Mari Meade Dance Collective and Project 44..    In August for a special showcase at Peridance, NY he is bringing one of his long time dance partners Evrim Akyay to dance a duet from Heva. The duet is built on Rumi and Shams of Tabriz..  His evening long work "Heva" re-defines oneness and wholeness, awareness of the self and questioning the various identities of the individual of the contemporary time. The piece is planned to tour to NY in the fall of 2014. 

   Basaran is also holding an audition / workshop at Peridance, NY on the week of 12th August.. The workshop will be from Monday through Friday, 10 to 11:30am every morning, starting with a warm up / technique class into some phrase work. Basaran is seeking fearless performers with a sense of self and surroundings high dance technique, higher instincts and intellect to take back to Istanbul with him and include in his international group.
