Born from Modern Challenges in Divorce, LegalLogs Continues to Thrive by Offering Practical Solutions

When Chris Kennedy faced divorce in 2008, he faced a slew of organizational problems that ended up costing him a great deal. Determined to find a solution, Kennedy co-founded LegalLogs as a documentation and organizational resource.

Today, LegalLogs serves as a comprehensive resource for those who need to organize their critical evidence for an upcoming divorce, personal injury or other litigation-focused trial. While both attorneys and individual clients have discovered the convenience and ease of the LegalLogs platform—many are not aware that the service was actually one of the first of its kind.

In 2008, Chris Kennedy—LegalLogs founder—was slapped with a divorce suit from his now ex-wife, leaving him with little time to prepare his case. Even with the help of a trusted attorney Kennedy knew that organizing his case on paper was a dated method at best—he realized that technology was the place to turn for establishing his evidence. Still, the resources that were available at the time fell short and ended up costing Kennedy a great deal. Not only did the divorce settlement take a large portion of his financial assets, but he was also faced with no longer holding primary custody of his two children.

While this is a situation that may resonate with many fathers, Kennedy was determined to make a difference, and turned to his friend and business partner Erik Lane. With a comprehensive background in tech development, Lane helped Kennedy arrange the initial tools for tracking, storing and transferring pertinent information such as time spent with children, financial records, emails, texts and other evidence relating to his divorce. Eventually, the system proved so seamless, that Kennedy and Lane decided to launch the first version of the program for consumer use.

Although the two had mastered the development of the tool from the client perspective, it still missed vital input from attorneys that could also benefit from the streamlined resource. As a result, local Maryland attorney Laura Bearsch offered first-hand knowledge and advice to take the technology to the next level. After five years of hard work on the project, Chris Kennedy found satisfaction. Not only did Kennedy’s business venture grow, but he was able to establish himself as an involved, organized father in front of the same judge who made the original decisions in his divorce.  Following his success in court, Kennedy knew that this tool could help many other disadvantaged parties facing divorce.

Only launched a few months ago in March 2013, LegalLogs has already won the praise of users and attorneys who needed additional resources for preparing divorce cases. The system has proven to help save time and money for individuals, allowing them to present evidence to the court for review. The LegalLogs platform continues to serve those facing divorce and has since expanded to assist in other litigation, including those in personal injury law.
