CouponChief.com Survey Shows 67 Percent of Shoppers Engage in Showrooming

CouponChief.com conducted a survey of 105 shoppers which showed two-thirds of shoppers “showroom,” the practice of inspecting products in stores and then purchasing those products online at lower prices.

The majority of shoppers (75%) use social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to stay current with deals from their favorite brands. 29% of respondents say they follow between four and six brands, while another 29% say they follow more than 10 brands. A quarter say they follow one to three brands, while 16% say they follow between seven and nine brands.

Mobile devices keep people connected, as 59% of shoppers admit to using their smartphones or tablets to check prices online while in-store. The majority (68%) of respondents take the time to look at the store’s online-price matching policy before deciding to make the purchase online. Free shipping offers influence 95% of shoppers’ decisions to make online purchases.
