The Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) released its first independent Change Management Market Research Report to over 800 change management practitioners, providers and thought leaders at the ACMP 2013 Global Conference in Los Angeles, California April 14-17, 2013. The research substantiates ACMP's dedicated efforts to develop a global, legally defensible standard in change management and the professional credential to support maturation of an emerging profession.
Utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data, the research found Change Management as a discipline is growing in value and adoption by both industry leaders and organizations around the world. Overall, 85% of respondents cited the value of change management and the value of change management to organization leaders very valuable or valuable. In contrast, 65% of organizations had change management functional groups and an even smaller group (37%) had a change management office, demonstrating the continued need for an organization such as ACMP to help steward the maturation of the profession.
As a Change Management Practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the industry, change management continues to evolve and mature as a professional discipline with proven bottom line results. ACMP's continued work toward the establishment of the first global, legally defensible standard will do as much to change business as it will to the business of managing change. Maria Darby, ACMP President
Information was gathered regarding methodologies, processes, tools, and techniques used by Change Management practitioners, examining differences based upon industry, geography, and job type (e.g., practitioner, hiring manager, consultant, and academic/training and development).
ACMP's Market Research Report validates ACMP's vision to establish and advance the change management profession through the establishment of the global standard and the professional credential against the standard. Our continued efforts and dedication to advancing the change management profession will have increasingly positive results for the organization's that embrace and adopt change management - and practitioners of change management.
