Worldwide release of National Award winning Punjabi film ‘Nabar’ tomorrow

Much acclaimed National award winning Punjabi movie will be released on 27th September for international release especially in the UK and Canadian markets.

The much-talked about National Award winningPunjabi film ‘Nabar’ is all set for worldwide release tomorrow.

The film which is set to hit nearly 100 screens in the country and abroad, was premiered here today at the DT Mall in the presence of Producer Jasbir Singh Derewal and Director Rajeev Sharma and the entire cast, including lead actor singer Nishwan Bhullar, Hardeep Gill, Harbinder Kaur Babli.

‘Nabar’ which means ‘a rebel with a cause’ is against the growing trend of Punjab’s youth selling off their assets or raising loans to immigrate to foreign countries which, in most cases, destroys the family of its livelihood, and the boy of his life.

This is a family drama that focuses on fly-by-night immigration operators who mislead the unwary youngsters to send them abroad, Rajeev Sharma added. It is a story of a farmer from Punjab who takes up the vow to fight injustice meted out by illegal immigration agents that led to his son’s death, and brings them to book.

I have seen families in Punjab getting ruined because of human trafficking which allures youngsters with glamour of living abroad, which leaves the families behind penniless, and leave these youngsters in abject suffering living in in-human conditions, he said.

In India the film has been distributed by Surya Basic Brothers, while Aman Khatkar Productions are releasing it in Canada and Channel Punjab Productions in UK.  The music of the film has been released by Touchwood Records, and the label has been launched by Hands-On Productions.

‘Nabar’ music album has 11 tracks including some soulful romantic numbers, bhangra, shabads, and ‘Chandi di vaar’ sung first time ever in a Punjabi film.

Music has been composed by stalwart of Punjabi entertainment industry, Channi Singh who also holds the distinction of having been awarded the Order of the British Empire in UK.

An upcoming music director, singer and lyricist Ravi Sheen who is an alumni of Indian Theatre department at Panjab University, has also sung ‘shabads’ and other songs in this movie and composed music for some of the tracks.

Nishawn Bhullar, another upcoming star of Panjabi music from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, gained popularity with his albums ‘Folk Star’ and ‘The Return of the Folk Star’, is the hero of the movie and has lent his voice to several songs in the movie.
