Max Virtual is the company behind The Cynaps Enhance Project, which is a baseball cap that enhances hearing using bone conduction technology, according to a press release. This technology is not new and has been used in bone anchored hearing aid implants for years. However, people with a working cochlea, the company claims, can hear better by wearing the cap.
In order to raise $75,000 to support this nonsurgical hearing solution, the company has begun an Indiegogo campaign it hopes to conclude successfully by Jan. 6. The Delaware based company also has teams in Greensboro, N.C., Bangalore, China, India and Shenzhen. Max Virtual has run a very successful Indiegogo campaign before this for adapting Bluetooth in one of these hats. The company set out to raise $20,000 and ended up raising more than $45,000, more than doubling their goal.
According to the press release, the company will “restore hearing” to one wounded active duty soldier or American veteran for every $5,000 it raises. Additionally, it will restore a child’s hearing with a small device for every $3,000 raised. Patients with pure conductive hearing loss can enjoy full hearing once again with the Cynaps Enhance hat, according to the product’s campaign page.
The product can also restore stereo sounds to people that suffer from unilateral hearing and for patients with cochlear implants it will clarify sound. Claims were also made on the Website that people who have been diagnosed as “profoundly deaf” have been able to hear again with the technology.
Cynaps Enhance is not a medical device at this time, the company was careful to note. It is not classified as a hearing aid and is still in the experimental stages. They could not guarantee results for any one specific person. However, they continue to share all the data they receive with all concerned parties
