London, UK (July 21, 2014) -- Independent publisher JF Publishing today announced the scheduling of a series of book signings and author lectures to launch a new book series on the architecture of the Buddhist world.
Author Vikram Lall, himself a practising architect with a firm in New Delhi, will visit London in the first week of September 2014, and from there continue to a series of book launch events in other cities including Brussels, New York City, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bodhgaya.
Book launch venues in London include the Victoria and Albert Museum Bookshop in the afternoon of Monday 1st September; the Buddhist Society in Ecclestone Square at 6.30pm on Wednesday 3rd September; and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Bookshop in Portland Place at 7pm on Thursday 4th September.
The publisher has provided the following web page detailing the book launch events for those who wish to attend: http://www.architectureofbuddhism.com/books/goldenlandsbooklaunchevents2014.
Says JF Publishing spokesperson JN Meru: "This is a book with very wide appeal, to art historians, archaeologists, those interested in Buddhist Studies and Asian Studies, and of course armchair travellers. So we are making efforts to ensure the book can reach a wider audience and hope to see these incredible Buddhist monuments and the research in this book become more widely appreciated internationally."
The first book in the series, entitled The Golden Lands, traces the history and architectural interpretation of over 100 different ancient Buddhist temples, pagodas, and religious complexes across Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. With 280 pages including more than 300 full colour illustrations and architectural diagrams, this is a largesized book that the publisher expects to appeal broadly to lovers of the culture and history of Southeast Asia.
"Everyone who has seen the book so far has been excited by being able to understand famous sites like Borobudur, Ayutthaya, and Sukhothai from a more clear historical and architectural perspective." Said Ms Meru, "We're sure this series is going to inspire many more people from all walks of life to travel to Southeast Asia and marvel at these wonders of the world for themselves."
The Golden Lands, ISBN: 9780789211941 (N America, Europe) and 9789670138039 (International / Direct), will be available in all good bookshops from September 2014.
