Life in Reels Productions, headed by independent film producers Terry Ross and Lisa Bruhn, is pleased to announce that production on their new film, “Carving a Life” has begun. The film, now fully funded for production, post-production and marketing, is underway and filming and post-production is expected to proceed quickly.
Terry Ross, Director, describes “Carving A Life” as reminiscent of feature films such as “The Spectacular Now” and “Smashed”. The story follows the journey of 25 year old Mitch, a successful wood carving artist haunted by the memory of his mother’s death. Mitch must face his demons and overcome alcohol abuse or lose everything precious to him.”
“We’ve put together a compelling script,” says writer and producer Lisa Bruhn. “Under a Screen Actors Guild Ultra Low Budget contract we have been able hire talented actors to fill various roles, including Navid Negahban of “Homeland.”
Ross and Bruhn are especially grateful to all of their Kick Starter funding partners, backers and participants who have given their support and made it possible to create a powerful independent film. The expectations for “Carving a Life” are as high as the excitement level surrounding the production.
The film will be submitted to the top international film festivals and premieres are planned for San Diego and Los Angeles in spring of 2014.
About Terry and Lisa:
Terry Ross has a professional film career that spans more than thirty years. Her experience includes acting, directing and teaching as well as a casting director on many independent films. Ross has also been a dialog coach on several network series and for private sessions. Ross also holds an M.A. in education from Stanford and a M.F.A. in directing from the University of California, Davis.
Lisa Bruhn has more than twenty years’ experience as a sales and marketing executive and brings her business acumen and creative skills to the project. Also, Bruhn’s son Tyler Bruhn, plays the lead Mitch. Lisa brings a great deal to the project, both in the production front and in the promotion and financial success to come.
