Creditcards.org Offers New Credit Card Comparison Tips

Creditcards.org is now offering new users new tips on how to properly compare different credit cards.

Credit card comparisons are now easy because many card companies and their affiliates have created online tools that can benchmark one card with another.

However, before comparing cards, here’s what the card applicant must do:

  1. The card applicant must check his current debt level and honestly decide if he wants yet another card. If he is having problems servicing his existing debt, he should not apply.
  2. Next, he should understand his borrower profile – is he a student getting his first card, a person who has bad credit, a person with good credit, or any other.
  3. He should figure out his credit score by pulling his credit report from the three major bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) and correct errors if any. The best rates are offered to people with a good score. Also, if there are errors or omissions in the credit report, the card company can turn down the application. So it makes sense to check the report.
  4. If he is obtaining a new card because his existing company is charging a high rate of interest, then he should negotiate with the company instead of applying for a new card.
  5. If a new card is required, the card applicant should use online tools and zero in on the card that works best for him.
